ROYEE WENG
multimedia director & editor, based in New York City
For the past seven years, I've directed and edited across film, live performance, and experiential events. I partner with artists, brands, and organizations to carry stories from concept through final cut: directing, editing, and building visual worlds for music videos, performance films, branded content, and live experiences.
My work is rooted in the lessons held within nature, and in a deep curiosity for the stories, traditions, and embodied practices that shape our individual and collective experiences — with a particular love for music, movement-based, and social impact-driven projects.
My film to pierce the wound, softly has won awards at festivals including the New York International Women Film Festival, Cannes Arts Fest, and the Berlin Shorts Award, among others.
My work has been exhibited in New York City and San Francisco — at :iidrr gallery, Ofrendafest, AAAAH Culture, Lunita Loft, Paradice Palase, and the
I'm also the co-founder of Mother of Pearl Collective, an artist collective and creative incubator dedicated to fostering collaboration, community, and accessible creative spaces. Over the past four years, we've produced and facilitated 40+ multidisciplinary events — multimedia exhibitions, music and movement performances, figure drawing workshops, skill-shares, open mics, a ten-day artist residency in San Francisco, and most recently, an artist’s retreat in Colorado.
I hold an MFA in Photography, Video & Related Media from the School of Visual Arts and a BFA in Integrated Design (Moving Image Arts) from Parsons School of Design. I'm an avid collaborator and lifelong learner, centering empathy, community, and connection in everything I create and contribute toward.
Currently building Pearl Studios — a creative design & production studio — while practicing the flute & working on my album.
