ROYEE WENG
I am a New York City-based multimedia director and creative producer with over five years of experience across film, live performance, and experiential events. My work is rooted in the lessons held within nature and a deep curiosity for the stories, traditions, and embodied practices that shape our individual and collective experiences, with a particular interest in music, movement-based and social impact-driven projects.
My film, to pierce the wound, softly, has received awards from the New York International Women Film Festival, Cannes Arts Fest, Berlin Shorts Award, Berlin Women Cinema Festival, Paris Women CineFest, Fairy Fang Film Festival, WRPN Women’s International Film Festival, and Monza Film Fest.
My work has been exhibited at :iidrr gallery, Ofrendafest, AAAAH Culture, Lunita Loft, Paradice Palase, and the Faight with Mother of Pearl Collective in New York City and San Francisco.
I am also the co-founder of Mother of Pearl Collective, an artist collective and creative incubator dedicated to fostering collaboration, community, and accessible creative spaces. Over the past four years, we have produced and facilitated over 40 multidisciplinary events - including multimedia exhibitions, music and movement based performances, creative skill-share and figure drawing workshops, open mics, and a ten-day artist residency in San Francisco.
I hold an MFA in Photography, Video & Related Media from the School of Visual Arts and a BFA in Integrated Design, with a focus in Moving Image Arts, from Parsons School of Design. I’m an avid collaborator and lifelong learner, centering empathy, community, and connection in what I create and contribute towards.
